SLIDE

Summer Learning Individualized Developmental Experiences

The Detroit Institute for Children is proud to present SLIDE, Summer Learning Individualized Developmental Experiences, our summer learning program for children with special needs. SLIDE will give children with special needs an opportunity to receive crucial therapies and prevent learning loss over the summer months.

We have two program locations. To qualify, a child must be 4-12 years old and have an IEP through their school.  The program location serving children ages 5 to 12 years old is in Southfield at Bradford Academy.  The program location serving children 4 to 5 years old is in Detroit at the Matrix-St. Stephen Head Start Center.  The primary therapies will be speech language therapy, occupational therapy, and special education. The program is provided at NO COST to families.

We need volunteers! Anyone 18 or older can volunteer with these programs, and it is a great opportunity especially for students studying disciplines related to education, therapy and special needs. Please contact us for further details.
